John Somers Obituary
Petersburg, IL—John Anthony Somers, 58, of Petersburg, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home. He was born January 19, 1960 in Bloomington, to Alfred Joseph and Marjorie Gates Somers. He married Kim Harkness on October 27, 1984 and she preceded him in death on March 26, 1993.
Survivors include his children, Joseph Somers of Petersburg and Stephanie Somers of Springfield; two sisters, Petty Kaeser and Bridget Renner; four brothers, Peter, Patrick, Marty and Paul Somers and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one sister, Mary Ellen Somers.
John was Maintenance Manager for Near North Village for 35 years.
Memorial Gathering: 5 - 7 pm, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to Camp CoCo.

I remember when we worked on water pipes and I forgot to shut off the return and it shot water everywhere and John and I lough a long time over that.

My condolences to the family of John, John was a very nice man he would help me with my car and he didn't have too. He always said hi to me when we would pass one another at near north. I'm gonna miss seeing him everyday and it's sad to know he's not here anymore.
