Springfield , IL—Kathleen Marie (nee Renfrow) Vehovic, 67, of Springfield, peacefully departed us on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, to begin her new work as an angel in Heaven, just as she has been on Earth.
Kathy was born on November 27, 1953 in Springfield, the daughter of Todd and Helen Renfrow. She married Ed Vehovic on September 21, 1974 at Blessed Sacrament in Springfield.
Kathy was a graduate of Springfield High School and became a Registered Nurse through the St. John's School of Nursing. She greatly enjoyed traveling, however, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Kathy will be fondly remembered for her abundance of generosity and energy, selflessness, and cute, colorful outfits. She loved to laugh hard, run errands (constantly), cook and buy gifts for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; sister, Sally Todd Renfrow; several aunts and uncles; and her parents-in-law, Paul and Irene Vehovic.
She is survived by her wonderful husband, Ed Vehovic, whom she was proud of, of Springfield; two daughters, Paula (husband, Shawn) Barry and Michelle (husband, Bob) Richardson, both of Springfield; four grandchildren, Elle Marie and Perry Leigh Richardson and Henry Edward and Blake Hazel Barry, all of Springfield; her parents; two sisters, Diane (husband, Bill) Winberg of Springfield and Dorothy (husband, Greg) McMillan of South Lake, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and beloved dog, Alex.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Private family ceremonies will be held, and private burial will take place.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
