VIRDEN - Kenneth W.

Ballinger, 81, of Virden, IL passed away at 8:00 P.M. Thursday September 22, 2011 at his residence in Virden, IL.

Kenneth was born July 16, 1930 in Lowder, IL a son of Harvey Lee & Grace (Spencer) Ballinger. He married Mittie R. Smith Oct. 14, 1950 in Virden, she precedes him in death. He married Arlene Love on November 15, 2003 in Virden, IL, she survives.

Kenneth was a 1948 graduate of Virden High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Virden American Legion Post #386 for over 50 years. He worked as a corporate pilot for Hulcher Emergency Services for over 20 years and retired as a Purchasing Agent for Echlin Inc., Litchfield, IL in 1993.

Surviving Kenneth is his wife, Arlene Ballinger of Virden, IL; sons, Michael W. Ballinger and Randy L. (Pam) Ballinger both of Virden, IL; step-son, Alan D. (Karen) Love of Virden, IL; step-daughter, Brenda G. (Bart) Konneker of Carlinville, IL; brothers, Edward Ballinger of Girard, IL, Ronald Ballinger of Washington, D.C.; sister, Emma Lee Burris of Springfield, IL; 1 grandson, 1 great grandson, 3 step grandchildren & 1 step- great grand daughter. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mittie R. Ballinger; brother, Russell Ballinger and sister, June Smith.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon Monday September 26, 2011 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL with Funeral Services at Noon, Rev. Ronald Lundahl and Rev. James Leek officiating. Memorials may be made to the Virden American Legion Post #386, Virden, IL. Interment will be in the Virden Cemetery. My father, M.L. Hulcher regarded Kenny as a loyal, trustworthy friend for many years. He always had a smile on his face and was always there for the company and especially my father. They shared a love for flying that was so deep. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Thank You Kenny for adding so much to my life as a young girl.
