SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - Kenneth G. Geriets, 65, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 12, 1943, in Springfield, IL, the son of Herman and Catherine Geriets of Tallula.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Geriets, and infant daughter, Keri Ann.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; mother, Catherine Stark and stepfather, Paul Stark; two sons, Scott Geriets of Petersburg, IL, and Justin Geriets, currently in Europe; two sisters, Jean (husband, Kenneth) Schiltz of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Sheri (husband, Larry) Lutes of Springfield, IL.
Kenneth attended Western Illinois University and Lincoln Land Community College. He worked as an insurance agent for Farmers Union for many years while living in Illinois. After moving to Tulsa, OK, in 1987, he married Shirley Caves on July 31, 1992.
Kenneth had his own independent insurance business in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for several years and later sold it and co-owned an employment agency with his wife.
He was president of the Tallula Kiwanis Club and later the president of the Eastside Tulsa Branch of the Tulsa Kiwanis Club. He attended First Baptist Church of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Angus Acres Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Visitation was Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Mark Griffith Memorial Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral was on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the First Baptist Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
