Leon "Butch" Call, II
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Leon "Butch" Call, II, 68, died at 1:38 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 6, 1945, in Springfield, to Leon and Juanita Kimmel Call, Sr. He married June Petrella on Nov. 18, 1972, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Michelle "Shelly" (Mike) Young of Springfield; two sons, Aaron (Nicole) Call of Summerville, S.C., and Chris Call of Springfield; three grandchildren: Alex Delahunt, Madison Call and Kelci Young; three sisters: Deborah Lewis of Springfield, Sandra (Charles) Flatt of Buckhart and Kathryn (Larry) Imler of Springfield; special aunt and uncle, Betty and Charlie Whittemore of South Sutton, N.H.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Sadie, and Max the cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Jerome and Una Kimmel and Shirley and Annie Call.
Butch was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Knights of Columbus Council #4175, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping, fishing and golf. He always could find a bargain anywhere and would share the knowledge. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a Radiology Technologist at Memorial Medical Center for 26 years and St. John's Hospital for seven years.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2014, at St. Joseph's Church, the Rev. Dr. Dean Probst officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League.

June and family I'm sorry for your loss. I remember when I first came to radiology he was the one who hired me. I also remember you both coming through my lane at Shop-n-Save when I worked there as. He was a an awesome guy and will surely missed. Praying for you.

I worked with Leon at St. Johns many years ago. After his retirement I would occasionally run into him and he always had a smile and a story to share. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a great man and will be missed by many. May you find comfort in your time of loss.
