PALMYRA, IL - Loren A. Qualls, 80, of Palmyra, passed away at 6:48 a.m. Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, Ill.
Loren was born May 11, 1935, in Carlinville, Ill., a son of John H. and Mary Eator Qualls. He was a 1953 graduate of Virden High School and married Geraldine L. Best on June 3, 1956, in Palmyra, Ill. Loren served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1961 during the Korean War on the USS Bennington CVA 20.
He was a member of the Blooming Grove Christian Church in Palmyra, Ill., and the Virden American Legion Post #386 in Virden, Ill. Loren owned and operated Qualls Construction for many years.
Surviving Loren are his wife, Geraldine Qualls of Palmyra, Ill.; sons, Bradley L. (Brenda) Qualls of Palmyra, Ill., and Brent (Monica) Qualls of Springfield, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Ann Maguire of Virden, Ill.
Preceding Loren in death were his parents; sisters: Ethel Lyman, Nettie Bullach, Henrietta Clark, Ruth Marks and Maxine Woodruff; and brothers: Homer, Howard, Wayne, Larry and Ronald Qualls.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, Ill., with funeral services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Blooming Grove Christian Church in Palmyra, Ill.
Burial will be at Virden Cemetery.
