Mona Meyer Obituary
Mona L. Meyer, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 8:59 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center.
Mona was born on May 15, 1928 in Streator, the daughter of Victor and Ruth Howey Weisz. She married Charles F. Meyer in 1948 in Springfield, IL; he preceded her in death in 2003.
Mona graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, class of 1946. She retired from the State of Illinois as an executive secretary. Mona was a member of TRN Club and a parishioner at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul for more than 70 years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, puzzles, coloring, crocheting, and played piano when she was younger. She was a fiercely loyal woman who loved her family.
Mona was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her son, John (Diana) Meyer of Springfield; daughter, Linda Meyer of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Christopher (Theresa) Meyer of Grover, MO, Lesley (Ben) Failor of Quincy, IL, and Corey (fiancé, Blake Lipe) Meyer of Hillsboro, IL; and four great-grandchildren, Amelia Meyer, Addison Meyer, Connor Failor, and Carter Failor.
Cremation will be accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society prior to services.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 815 S. 2nd Street, Springfield, with The Very Reverend Andrew S. Hook, celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 815 S. 2nd Street, Springfield, IL 62704.
