SPRINGFIELD - Paul Thomas Sears, 56, of Springfield, died at 6:27 pm, Saturday, June, 18, 2011 at his home. He was born September 11, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to Paul Eugene and Evelyn McAnner Sears. His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Eades of Springfield and Jessica Sears of Auburn; one son, Michael Peters of Springfield; five grandchildren; one sister Terry (David) Freeze of St. Louis, MO and two nieces.
Paul was a member of Real Life Church and worked as a Plumber for Union Local 137.
Memorial Gathering: 1-2 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Memorial Service:
2 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Clint Cook officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Alano Group, 516 Bryn Mawr Blvd. Springfield, IL 62703

I've known Paul for more then 30 years. Fellow local 137 member. Deer hunting in Hancock county with Andy and his crew. Lots of memories. Paul was a good guy. Rest in Peace Brother.

I thank God for our memories, which I will always hold dear. If I were granted one wish at this time, I would wish you were here. God took you too soon, because the man I once knew wasn't close to being done. But I know in my heart, you're home now, Paulie. Finally at peace and 'comfortly numb'. I'll miss you greatly, but believe me when I say "First Love's never die" and I'll always take comfort in knowing that I will se you gain. See you on the other side. Until then....

To Paul's family, Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of your father, brother, and friend. Paul was genuinely one of the kindest men I ever knew. His heart was bigger than he was. I could always count on him to lend a hand, share a smile, and give of himself and his love without to anyone who needed it. He was taken too soon from all of us, but I hold tight to the knowledge that his great fight is over and he is at the peace he so deserves. Please take care of yourselves during this time, and keep his love alive as you go forward in your own lives. I am sorry I cannot make it to the memorial on Saturday, but trust that Paul will always be in my heart! Godbless, M.T.

Paul's memory is etched in my mind and will always remind me of my youth and good times back then. Our paths didn't cross much in the last several years but when I did see him it always brightened my day. I am sad to see him go so young. Paul, I will always remember you! Hey I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost my Dad almost four years ago now and it's definitely hard. Remember the good times and you'll be surprised how you can't remember the bad. Look at what you have become. Your Dad has to be proud, and I will not forget you helping to take care of my son. That takes a special person. Words can not express how sad I am today. I know you are here in spirit to help guide me through this but it is hard not having you here in person. I can not believe I will never see you again. I will take care of you as you so deserved. You are finally free. I will never forget all the fun we had on our excursions to Lake Shelbyville and our hunting trips.(Hell yes! His daughter CAN fish and hunt.)I will especially not forget the time I stayed up all night and you awoke me soon after I went to sleep with fireworks in my window. That'll teach me, huh?
