PETERSBURG - Phyllis Eleanor Leinberger, 81, of Petersburg died Monday, June 4, 2007, at 5:10 p.m. at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg. She was born Oct. 30, 1925, in rural Cass County, to Roscoe and Virgie McHenry Anderson. She married John Leinberger in Petersburg in 1951. They were later divorced.
She is survived by one son, Bart (Rhonda) Leinberger of Petersburg; three daughters, Beverly Leinberger, Barbara Rebbe and Brenda (Kenny) White, all of Petersburg; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Brian) Bell of Virginia; four sisters, Lucille Lutes, Roberta Stroh and Virginia Winkelmann, all of Oakford, and Esther Fricke of Petersburg; four brothers, Gerald "Andy" Anderson of Pinehurst, N.C., Robert (Wanda) Anderson of Petersburg and Art (Jackie) Anderson and Gene (Glenda) Anderson, all of Oakford; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bret Leinberger; one grandson, John Leinberger; one brother, Randall Anderson; and her parents.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She has worked as a nurse's aide at Shamel Manor and Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg. She also worked for the Schirding State Bank in Petersburg. She graduated from Petersburg/Harris High School in 1943. She also was an avid Cub and Illini fan.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Petersburg, with Pastor Jeffrey Gross officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 7, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Menard County Ambulance or Sunny Acres Home.
