I have had a difficult time grasping the right words to express, at this time, given the recent loss of my Dad and the impact that Mr. Rich has had in my life as a result of his close friendship to my father, Nick Chambers. It is hard to beleive those two, wonderful men, are no longer part of this world in the physical. My prayers and heart goes out to Mrs. Ruby and the family. Mr. Rich was family, a teacher, a friend, someone who always provided encouragement and common sense advice. When he spoke, I listened. My family and I have been eternally blessed to have had Mr. Rich in our life's. He was a wonderful man and a great example of what "goodness" looks like.

My Dear Family,

I pray the Comfort, Compassion, and Grace of God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will bless our family in the passing of cousin Rich. I have so many fond memories of growing up with Rich, he was in my way of thinking my first big brother...he would often joke with Ronnie and I about being young men, trying to teach us about the birds and the bees as they use to say back then. He model the image of being a faithful supporting family member, when things were tough Rich would always show up to make sure we had water, transportation and coal. He never boast or bragged about his work, he was just there to help his Aunt Catherine and her children.

After I married and later moved to South Carolina,Rich for years would send hugh boxes of things to my children..he just loved helping others when he was in good health.

A few weeks ago in our last converstaion we talked about Uncle Oscar being sick and he said venson you know none of us are going to leave here until God gets ready for us to leave...man does not really know when that will be. I did not know that that would be our last conversation.

I say to Aunt Goldie, Sister Ruby, his children and grands, sisters and brothers, and my entire family "May God strengthen and bless our lives in our sorrow.

I regret that my health and other circumstances did not allow me to be at cousin Rich Life Celebration Service, family please know that I along with my wife Rose and children are truly sorrowful in the passing of cousin Rich and Uncle Oscar.

THANKS RICHARD FOR NOT JUST BEING MY COUSIN BUT FOR BEING A TRUE AND WONDERFUL FRIEND IN LIFES GOOD AND IN LIFES BAD TIMES ! 17th Street and so many things have changed down through the years but our family ties has remain strong...may the coming generations gleam something from our strength of unity and love for one another.
