Cuz
I have so many memories of growing up with you I don't know where to start. I played a lot of ball with you in Carlinville, we had a lot of fun picking on Jodi. Ryan and his dad would come down almost every weekend and visit, Ryan thought it was cool that I was a girl and could catch him. When my sister and I moved back to Pawnee we didn't know anyone and Ryan took us around and introduced us to all of you. He was a very caring kid who had a heart of gold and I will miss never hearing him call me Cuz. He was taken from us too soon, but he is now up there watching out for all of us.
Bye Cuz.

Dear Butler family and friends: My deepest sympathies and prayers to you all at this difficult time. I have many memories of Ryan, but the one that always stands out the most is from our 6th grade trip to Six Flags. Ryan snatched my camera from me and was playing keep away. Well, he took a picture of me chasing him to get my camera back. It is a really funny picture and memory. I pray that God gives you all peace and rest in knowing that Ryan is with Him.

Ryan is one of my many cousins on my Mom's side of the family. I am 17 years older than Ryan so I didn't get to know him as well as his brother Tracy and sister Lisa. However, I remember the joy that I had when I was told that Ryan had given his life to Jesus Christ. Even though he struggled at times, I know his heart was to serve his Lord with all his might. He told me so a few years back when I saw him in Chatham at what we always called the Chatham Carnival.
Uncle Deon and Aunt Billie Sue, Tracy and Lisa, my family's prayers are with you. May the comfort of God be with you in this time.

I graduated in 2003 and didn't even know who Ryan was. Until one day a few summers back when i was at the school helping coach the boys baseball team and he was down at the school and yelled out "hey kid if i get my glove can i pitch to you for a bit." And i was like yeah no problem and a half hour later he was back at the school, and i will never forget how fast he threw that first pitch it blew my mind and it hurt my hand sooo bad. And for the rest of the summer Ryan and I would meet down at the school and just play catch. it was one of my favorite summers, because Ryan always talked about getting back in shape and going pro

Ryan was a classmate of mine at Pawnee. I didn't see him much at all after high school but when I heard of his death, one specific story came to mind and I feel like I should share it. When I was six or seven I played T-Ball with him and his Dad was the coach. Each team had their own color. We were the black team.
One time we were playing on the T-ball field in Pawnee and it was hot out and I fainted. Ryan's Dad picked me off of the grass in the outfield and gave me to my mother.
The next day at school, I told Ryan to tell his Dad that I didn't want to play T-ball anymore because it was just too hot! I remember him saying to me, "Oh you can't quit, you are the best girl we've got! You really are pretty good for a GIRL." Then he said, "my Dad had to have some girls on the team and I am glad he picked you." We never lost a game that year and if he wouldn't have said those kind words to me, I would have quit. Thanks Ryan.

I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you. I have many fond memories of Ryan, I think the best one is the time I told my daughter I wanted her to bring me home a bumper sticker "my child is an honor student" and she did. I was so proud until she told me she got it from Ryan "because he gets them all the time", and they were both proud of themselves for coming up with the idea.

Ryan was a good friend to me all the way through school at Pawnee. I have fond memories of playing basketball on weekends when we were kids, playing outfield with him in high school baseball, and competing to see who had the better car stereo as teenagers. I remember him excitedly showing me how his mustang could flip a quarter into the air with the bass from it's subwoofers. We also enjoyed being the oldest in our class. Ryan got his driver's license 5 days before I got mine. It's funny, but I remember thinking that he was the best non-farming driver in our class. Scott Ponsler and myself had a head start by driving well before we were of age, but Ryan drove just as well as we did. It's hard to say goodbye, but I will never forget him, and will always miss him.
