SPRINGFIELD - Theresa M. Sommer, 74, of Springfield died at 4:35 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2007, at St. John's Hospice.
Theresa was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Gardner Township, the daughter of Henry J. and Hattie M. Smith Sommer Sr.
She was a graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. For the past seven years, Theresa worked at St. John's Credit Union. She previously worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. and retired from Carpetland USA.
Theresa was a caring, giving and loving sister and aunt, who loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Henry Sommer Jr. and Paul Sommer.
She is survived by one brother, Frank G. (wife, Gena) Sommer of Browning; two sisters, Rose M. (husband, Russell) Albert of Chatham and Jean Peterman of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews, including Pam (husband, Dan) Neuman of Loami.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A private family memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. Sixth St., with memorial ceremonies to follow with the Rev. Robert J. Jallas officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter St., Springfield, IL 62702; Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, 331 S. Main St., Virginia, IL 62691; or a charity of the donor's choice.
