DOROTHY CHAPMAN Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" Chapman (Jacques), 78 years old, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2019 at Skagit Valley Hospital after surgery complications.

Dorothy was born the fifth child of eight to Leo and June Jacques in Brownville, Maine. She always reminisced about her childhood in Maine and how much fun she had with her family camping, sledding, raising animals and going fishing with her father.

She met and married naval serviceman Ronald Chapman and had three children. Being married to a submarine serviceman, who was out to sea for long periods of time, and raising three children was challenging.

Dorothy always took things in stride even when the Navy would relocate the family every few years. She had "The patience of Job". After 25 years of moving around the United States, she finally was able to call Mount Vernon her home and developed many friendships.

During her career she worked at Montgomery Wards, Draper Valley and spent 13 years at Visiting Nurse where she assisted people with in-home care.

Dorothy enjoyed camping with her children and grandchildren at Baker Lake, taking yearly family trips pheasant hunting in Eastern Washington, teaching her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren crafts, loved playing cards (Poker & Tripoley) and raising her pugs.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother.

She is survived by her three grateful children, daughter-in-law, two son in-laws, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five sisters, one brother, and many nieces, and nephews.

A "Celebration of Life" will be planned at a later date.

The family suggests sending memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Skagit Valley https://mjhssv1.blogspot.com/p/join.html.
