EDITH ESARY Obituary

Edith A. Esary was born to Marion and Rosa (Price) Esary in Ashland, North Carolina on March 20, 1920 and she entered into rest in Mount Vernon, Washington on July 31, 2008 at the age of 88 years.

She was the youngest of six children, 3 boys and 3 girls. The family moved to Washington State when she was 2 years old and settled on Bow Hill.

Edith graduated from Edison High School in 1938 and went to work for the Peth family where she learned to cook; she was a wonderful cook. Working there she met and fell in love with another employee Clarence R. Esary and they entered into marriage in Mount Vernon, on February 23, 1939. They lived in several places and finally settled in Bow; where they lived until Clarence's passing in 1969.

After a few years Mom settled in an apartment in Mount Vernon where she lived for 26 years. Mom never had a driver's license, but she loved to travel and she and Clarence went on many trips. Reno was a favorite place. Following Clarence's passing she would go on "mini" vacations with her daughter Sally, and a trip to Hawaii with her son and daughter in Law David Esary and his Wife Nancy, when her daughter Nancy lived there. She looked forward to her weekly lunches with the girls and her son and daughter-in-law Ralph Esary and his wife Priscilla.

Her happiest times were spent surrounded by her children, and grandchildren. She was a much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. She was quick to admit that her family "spoiled her rotten"; which she graciously accepted.

Edith is survived by her beloved family, children: Nancy J. Rimmer, Edith "Pee-Wee" McGehee and her husband Tom, Ralph H. Esary and his wife Priscilla, David J. Esary and his wife Nancy, Sally A. Crawford and her husband Roger; grandchildren: Kathy Howe and her husband Jeff, David Hansen, Dan Hansen, Kelli Rimmer, Colleen Johnson and her husband Vinnie, Bryan McGehee and his wife Karen, Debbie Rognildson and her husband Tim, Shawn Wright and her husband Delane, Ralph Esary and his wife Amy, D.J. Esary and his wife Lisa, Brett Esary and his wife Amy, Robbie Jahnke and his wife Jodie, Jim Crawford and his wife Jenni; 23 great-granchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, June Price, and Ruth McGlauflin; numerous nieces and nephews; a long time friend, Alton Veil; and also the many friends that she met during her lifetime that will also miss her dearly.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Clarence R. Esary; grandsons, Dennis Crawford and Aaron Koester; her parents; brothers, Claymon, Curt and Cline Price; sisters, Irma Slayton and Alice Price.

Her final residence was Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon, where she was treated like the queen that she thought she was (they continued to "spoil" Edith.) Edith's family reflect that they were sure that they drove the staff "nuts" with her constant stream of family and friends. We thank them for their care and patience.

At her request there will be no public services, but a family gathering is planned for later.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon WA. Cards of condolence may be sent to Edith's family in care of the funeral home.
