I went to the Notre Dame women's game tonight and heard the shocking news of Hector's passing! As his seat mate, he will be greatly missed, I will always remember his enthusiasm and love of the Lady IRISH ! I'll remember Hector fondly and his famous call, "she walked". Rest in peace and go IRISH! Jeanne Rehlander

The First time I met Hector was at the South Bend Airport. He and his long time friend Guillermo had arrived from Honduras. I was host to Guillermo but most of the time Hector came to my home also. He was a joy to me and my family .My children enjoyed his teasing and playful nature .He gave a great gift to our family just knowing him. He is missed.

I haven't seen Hector since I worked at Honeywell several years ago, but I will never forget what a bright light he was. He always had a smile on his face and had a way of uplifting those around him. My deepest condolences to his family.

Hector was one of the kindest, most affable people I knew. He always either had something light hearted and friendly to say, or offered a smile and wave whenever he came by my desk during the day. Hector freely shared his smile and kind words generously, and genuinely.

I met Hector when we arrived at Notre Dame in 1987. I truly enjoyed his company and our conversations about our favorite common topic, ND Womens Basketball.
