JACK WEBB

Jack Webb, was born to Benjamin Bosserman and Lula Cochrane on May 11, 1922 in Sharon Springs Kansas. Benjamin was killed in a railroad accident before Jack was even one year old. His mother later married Jasper Webb, who adopted Jack.

Growing up in Sharon Springs, Jack worked at the old Conoco station and was a life guard at the town swimming pool. He was an excellent athlete, participating in football, basketball and track. He was an especially good sprinter and set a state record for the 220 yard dash. After high school he enrolled at Colorado University, now the University of Colorado. At college he had an opportunity to play collegiate football, but it only lasted one year before WWII intervened and his college education was interrupted.

Jack served in the 5th Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic during WWII. Before heading overseas, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Carter. After the war he returned to Colorado University to complete his education, graduating in 1950 as a civil engineer. After working for companies in the Denver and Dallas areas he was employed by Texaco, Inc. When Texaco made the decision to build a new refinery in Washington he accepted the opportunity and made the move with his family to Anacortes. At the new Puget Sound refinery he was first involved with construction supervision and then supervisory positions involved in day to day operations. He retired in 1982 as the Superintendent Air and Water Conservation.

Jack was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge #254, rising to the rank of Worthy Master. He loved to play golf and bridge and was an active member of the First Methodist Church. The many friends he made during his long residence in Anacortes testify to his cheerful demeanor and ready willingness to be of service. His family was a central focus of his life and his place in it cannot be filled.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, and his daughter Barbara.

He is survived by his brother Monroe of Grand Junction, CO; his sons Jack Steven (Lynne) and Michael Alan (Dana) Webb of Anacortes; grandchildren Steven (Deidra) of Frisco, TX, Rebecca of Burlington, Brendan, and Joel Webb of Seattle; and his great-grandchildren Jeremy Lagarde of Louisiana, and Carter and Derek Webb of Frisco.

The time and place of a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Donations in Jack's memory may be made to the First Methodist Church of Anacortes.
