Janette McPherson Obituary

Mount Vernon - Sadly, Janette Katherine McPherson (O'Leary) closed her smiling blue Irish eyes forever on November 18, 2021. The daughter of Thomas E. And Violet O'Leary (Renilson), she was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, and enjoyed a dual career as a homemaker and as a retail clerk at the former Jo's Styles. 95 years young, she is survived by her daughter Deborah (David) Lenz, Grandson Scott (Sally) McPherson, Granddaughter Colleen (Chris) Kelly, former Daughter-In-Law Janie (Art) Woolbert, three Grandchildren, Connor, Lesley, and Rhiannon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill, her dear son Tom, her sister Therese (Lyle) Ovenell and brother Ed O'Leary. Special thanks are due to the most compassionate and considerate home caregivers of Visiting Angels-Brittney, Angela, Amy, Danielle, Colleen, Brooke, Alyssa, Josie, Linda, and Joann. Her family is also indebted to Skagit Valley Hospice, who supported her in her last days with us. A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Mount Vernon, WA on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 11:00am. A graveside service will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Park on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Skagit Valley Wound Center would be most appreciated. Most of my formative years were blessed with Janette & Bill. Their positive attitude, even in difficult times, shined brightly. Janette was always so kind, loving, hospitable and funny. I recall the "candy drawer" she would allow me to get into and also offering me any soda from the basement full of many kinds and lots of them. I felt like I was in Willie Wonka's Choc. Factory. There was always a candle burning in the hurricane glass centerpiece on their coffee table which was welcoming and warmed the room. Her spirit, such a positive and fun-loving spirit, shaped me to mirror the same. Funny fact, she fit me for my first bra, when my mom Annette, her best friend, brought me to Jo Styles. Then later, Bill made wise cracks of it from every angle... they were always joking and laughing and made me roar, then they'd almost pee their pants! Janette is an amazing women I had the honor of knowing.
My heartfelt thoughts go out to Debbie, Janie and family.

Wonderful memories of Janette will always be tied in with Gail's family history and happy times. Janette and Bill were always thought of as part of the family. Will never forget our fun time at Snaklum Point at her brother Edmund's house. That raft experience is forever lodged in my brain. It was definitely an adventure. Debbie, I want to say that you were on that raft with Mark, Jay, and me if I remember right. Also want to say that Gail and I visited two of Janette's relatives while on a trip to Scotland. They were wonderful gracious people and a great Scottish experience for us. I will never forget the tea and digestive biscuits at an aunt's house and the glasses of sherry by the fireplace at her cousin's house. Lots of special Scotland memories. My thoughts are with you Debbie, Jannie, and family. Janette will always hold a special place in my heart.

What a shock and grief to read about Janette passing. I first met her back in the late 1960's when George Buttery introduced her and Bill to me.We had a lot of fun together. It was a great honor to know her and Bill along with the rest of the family. I shall always remember her laugh, her great sense of humor, and yes, her blue Irish eyes. I am so saddened by this news. Take care, Debbie. Love you Janette for ever.

I had the privilege of getting to know Janette during my time working at Visiting Angels, as her Care Manager. Janette was always so welcoming of my visits. I could count of Janette to give me a good laugh as she always had a funny joke or memory to share! She was charismatic, poised, humorous, giving and loving. She will be missed. May she rest in the arms of the Lord. Dawn
