I has been MANY years since I have seen you, Karl, though I thought I ran into your mom at the fruit stand in Stanwood a few years ago. I was told of your death and know for all who knew you, the loss is enormous. Some of my fondest memories were of picking berries with the Fagan clan, like when you put on the size 6 yellow sweatshirt and couldn't get out of it. I still laugh at the scene of you trying to get it off. There aren't really enough words to express what I am certain many family and friends feel at your passing. There was never a doubt that you were a special part of all those you have known. My family was shocked and dismayed. I hope your family finds vision to move forward through the great loss they must feel and know that there are many lives touched over the years that hold them up.

This was one of Karl's email's to me before he went to California on a business trip and they were read at his memorial:

Subject: TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!

Angel Girl! I am soooo Lucky to be your man, to be the one....the chosen one that you picked to LOVE! You are a Miracle and a blessing and an Inspiration. Not just to me to it seems the longer I am with you the broader the deeper that circle seems to be. You put a smile on my face and on my heart. When I think of you, I think of love and about love and what that is and what that means....what we have and what we share with each other is very rare. I personally do not know of anyone who has it, I am sure they are out there. I know that movies portray it to the world, but that is actors acting it (and they are good at it and it makes people dream and imagine that it is real) but for most people that is as close as they get. I am truely blessed by you and your love! I also get more and more blessings by Jaxon, Tino, Angela and Tiffanie ... that too is honest love and I believe that that is also real! I also feel loved by your sisters and Mom...even though I only see them every now and then ( and Jim and Russ get to see them everyday). I know they see the love in your eyes, hear it in your voice and feel it in their hearts that you are loved by a good man.

I breathe your breath, feel your heart beat, see your soul, read your mind and love your thoughts and your dreams...you are the other half of me...the part I can never be by myself, yet the part I need to complete myself. You give me those things, willingly, lovingly, caringly and openly! I try to never take any of these things for granted, especially you. And I try to tell you everyday that I LOVE YOU! They are just words, but what I am saying is sooo much more than that!

I know when you read this I will be away in LA on business, but believe me, even when we are apart, you are with me and a part of me!

To my love, with all my love!

K

PS I will be home soon...and you are my Home!

Oh Baby,
I love you, I love you, and I love you some more. I just read your email and it is the most beautiful, heartfelt, and wonderful thing I have ever read (and have known). I am truly blessed to be your wife and your love and even the sweeter is that you are all of those things and everything to me! I have always said that I love my crush and my crush loves me back, so I could never ask for anything better! Thank you for being you and being the love of my life!

I know you will have a busy day today, but just know that I am thinking of you, and when you see a palm tree think of me! LOL!

I love you!

I would like to extend my condolences to Donna and the family. Although I hadn't been in contact with Karl for a time, I still have happy memories of the times I spent with Karl, both at the plant and on the numerous business trips we made to various parts of the US, Canada and Europe. Karl was always a gentleman and just a real pleasure to have as a traveling companion and associate. Karl was one of the most upbeat persons I ever met and he always projected a positive attitude. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. I hope that we can all take some inspiration from Karl's too short life to help us deal with the future.

I had the privilege of getting to know Karl through PNAA and through the several trips he made to Abbotsford, BC to participate in the Abbotsford Airshow and to promote business between US and Canadian aerospace companies. Committed to enhancing the industry, always smiling and downright nice, he was such a pleasure to work with. My deepest sympathies to Karl's family.

Today we celebrated the Life of Mr. Karl. There was standing room only inside & outside. He was honored by so many friends & family.
I knew I loved Mr. Karl when I realized how much he loved my Sissy, her children & grandchildren. He was so easy to love. He always made me feel like the most important person in the room, as he did so many others. Karl shared his heart with so many & was so generous in every way. The love he had with my Sissy was the Perfect Love & I know neither one of them ever had that kind of love until they met each other. Thank You Mr. Karl for giving my Sissy the life she always wanted. I know you will be waiting for us in heaven, but I do expect you to show up every once in a while to help us help Donna get through each day, one day at a time.
I promise to do my best to help take care of her with every bit of strengh I have in me.
Thank you for being such a beautiful part of our family & our world. I love you & will forever & forever miss you so much.

Today we celebrated the life of Mr. Karl. He was honored in so many ways. There was standing room only inside & outside. It was always just like him to draw a big crowd!

I knew I loved him when I realized how much he loved my Sissy. He gave his all to her, her children, & grand children. Every time I saw him he always made me feel like the most important person in the room, as he did everyone in his life.
So all I can say is Thank you Mr. Karl from the bottom of my heart. I know you will wait for us in heaven. I do expect you to keep your arms around us and come down every once in a while to help us know what to do to help Donna get through each day, one day at a time. You were like a son growing up in my back yard with my kids. It was the Fagan's and the Morgan's that kept that neighborhood so much fun. I can't tell you how many memories I have of you and your family from those early years. You always came to the important times in our lives and we always looked forward to seeing you. You were like a brother to my son's and daughter and God bless you and the family you leave behind. You will be in my thought and your family in my prayers.

I regrettably lost touch with Karl over the last decade, but memories especially good memories last a life time. I will aways remember the camp fires in my back yard, fishing, laughing and those goofy wonderful songs Karl sang so well at my house on Lake Ki. I swear if there was a fish to be caught Karl would hook it. I never knew Donna and the girls but my thoughts and prayers are with you. Yvonne, Nathan, and Shriane I wish my heartfelt condolences and prayers in your loss. The world was a better place with karl in it. Heaven has received a special man

Over the past few days, each of us has struggled to find the words to express our sorrow at the loss of Karl. So far, for me, the words just aren’t there. I think he touched all of us who knew him, be it family, close friends, co-workers or casual acquaitinces, in pretty much the same way. We liked him, loved him, enjoyed his company but most of all we admired him and respected him.

Certainly this is un-thinkable loss for Donna and her girls, for Shirley and her family, for Karl’s children and grandchildren but this is a loss for all of us as well. The Karls of this world don’t come along very often and those of us who were blessed to know him are better for it.

His Mother-in-Law in Oklahoma has three fine son-in-laws, the kind that any Mother would be proud of. But, without a doubt, Karl was her favorite. I think he knew that but he never rubbed it in.

Karl was a singer of songs and a teller of tall tales. He knew no strangers and was a friend to all. Every experience shared with him was a joyious occasion. This is how I will remember him.
