Madison Parker Obituary

Mount Vernon - Madison Parker (Hilsinger), a longtime Mount Vernon resident, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, of complications from diabetes.

Known as Matt to many of his friends, he was born to Ronald and Joan Parker on June 4, 1948, in Seattle Washington.

He graduated from Concrete High School in 1968. He married Judy Burke in 1971 and had 2 children, Tammy Parker and Ronald Parker.

After moving around, he settled in Mount Vernon in 1988. He was an auto body technician and liked to restore old cars and trucks. His mother Joan said, "He started collecting cars at 16 and never stopped."

He enjoyed karaoke with his daughter Tammy. He liked to sing Elvis's songs and was quite good. He also did duets with Tammy and their favorite song was "Have you Ever Been Lonely" by Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline.

He also enjoyed going drag racing with Ron and working on cars with him.

In 2009 he met Lori, and they married in 2012. They liked going to car shows, working at fixing up their home and yard, camping at Hillbilly Heaven and watching football, his favorite team is the Chiefs.

One of his favorite things to do was go to swap meets where many of his friends always looked for him wearing his signature gold hat.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Parker; stepfather, Darrell Hilsinger, stepfather, David Rabb; stepson, Rick Burke.

He is survived by his wife Lori; mother; Joan Rabb, daughter, Tammy (Russell Barnes) Parker; son, Ronald Parker; four stepchildren, Joanie (Jeremy) Huston, Michael Reid, Nicholas (Laina) Wakeman, Matthew (Julie) Wakeman; sisters, Sherry Parker Hornbeck, LeeAnn Lebuis, Linda (Scott) Kilpatrick, Ronna Hilsinger; brothers, Robert Hilsinger, Lane Hilsinger. Matt was a special guy. He knew the difference between a Dynaflow and a Ultramatic, between Bruce Lee and Brenda Lee, and between a '52 and '53 Ford steering gear. He was also the guy who could see where the last piece in a '31 Chevy wood kit belonged. We/re gonna miss him.

Sorry to hear of Matt's passing. He was a "car guy" through and through; an authority on early Chevrolets, and a wizard at bringing dead cars back to life...... A fixture at swap meets, "tire kicks" and the world famous Wednesday morning "Old Car Guy" breakfast. Matt's wealth of vintage car knowledge, and his dry sense of humor will be missed by us all. boB and Judy

Sorry to hear of Madison“s passing. We met up with friends at the Friday night Show and Shine in the Farmers Supply parking lot. He was a warm and friendly guy who always wanted to make everyone smile and feel welcome. He is and will always be missed by all he knew.
