Michael William Lovern

1954 - 2024

Sedro-Woolley - Michael William Lovern died peacefully in his home on July 1, 2024 at the age of 70.

He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 21, 1954 to Morris Fridge and Lois Lovern, the second of three sons; Jeff, Michael and Timothy.

He graduated high school in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972, followed by one year of Junior College.

Michael was most at home in the great outdoors and had an adventurous spirit. As a teen he enjoyed spelunking and spoke often of his cave adventures. At 18 he and a small group of friends hitchhiked from Virginia to Alaska where they built a raft and spent the summer traveling down the Yukon. A journey that would forever impact his life.

At the age of 19, following his year at college, Michael made is way across country to the Pacific Northwest where he lived out the remainder of his days. As an adult, when he wasn't working maintenance at Thousand Trails he could be found playing Pickleball, running, biking, hiking or fishing. He enjoyed photography and often had a camera in his hand.

After taking early retirement in 2009 Michael once again took to the open road, spending a couple years traveling the U.S. visiting family and National Parks before settling down. Although a loner, Michael was a good man with a big heart, always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be sorely missed.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Lois and Fridge and his younger brother Timothy.

He is survived by his older brother Jeff (Miki) of Arlington, Virginia and Christie Smith and her sons, Christopher, Kenny and Justin of Skagit Valley.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Michael fought a life long battle with depression and mental health concerns, the family requests that any memorials be offered to the mental health services of your choice.
