Robert and Barbara Meier

Anacortes - Robert C. Meier, age 92, and Barbara J. Meier, age 83, passed away in January 2023 and September 2022, respectively. Bob and Barb celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary prior to their passing. Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois to Edwin and Leola Meier. Barb was born in Detroit, Michigan to Delbert and Martha Stallwood. Bob obtained a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University, and a Master of Arts and PhD from the University of Minnesota. Barb was a graduate of the Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit. Bob was a college professor and taught in the business department at Western Washington University. Barb was a registered nurse and worked at the Skagit County Health Department. In addition, Bob served in the Army in the 1950s and Barb served as a volunteer nurse in Vietnam in the 1960s. Bob and Barb were residents of Anacortes since 1988. They previously resided in Mount Vernon and Seattle. Bob and Barb are survived by their daughter Susan C. Meier and her husband Timothy A. Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and by their son Robert Paul Meier and his wife Kristin Nealey Meier of Kirkland, Washington, and grandchildren Zack and Sydney Meier. Bob and Barb greatly enjoyed the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Donations in their honor may be made to the Anacortes Parks Foundation at PO Box 1902, Anacortes, WA, 98221.
