ROBERT FRANKLIN Obituary

ROBERT FRANKLIN 12/13/1953 - 08/15/2025 Robert "Bob" Wesley Franklin, 71, of rural Sleepy Eye died on August 15, 2025, at Ecumen Pathstone Living in Mankato with family by his side. Bob was born on December 13, 1953, to Virginia (Barnes) and Jim Franklin in Frederick, Md. He married the love of his life, Judy (Resick), on April 7, 1990. He and Judy spent their 35 years of marriage together on their homestead in the country, spending time with one another. Anyone who knew Bob knew he was one of the hardest workers out there. He worked on the railroad when he was younger and then worked as a welder repairing railroad cars with Alter Trading in Mankato into his 70s. When he wasn't working, Bob had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, flying RC helicopters/airplanes, and spending time with his pets (especially Patches and Ozzy who were two very spoiled dogs lucky enough to call the Franklin residence home). Bob was a fighter and overcame many heath issues over the years. No matter how hard it got, though, he would always get a smile on his face when his great-niece, Sophie, would come to visit her "Uncle Bub". She was a light in his life like he was a light in many of ours. He will be remembered and thought of often. If you are lucky enough to hear some "classic Bob stories" be ready to laugh and smile. We were all lucky to have had him in our lives. Bob is survived by his wife, Judy Franklin; brothers, Bill (Missy) Franklin, Mike (Nancy) Franklin; brothers-in-law, Terry (Peggy) Resick, Steve (Dee) Resick; sisters-in-law, Laurie Resick; nieces and nephews who were very special to him, Jordan (Tonya), Samantha (Ryan), Brandon, Austin (Hannah), Tyler, Andrew, Danielle (Bill), Cole (Angela), Jason (Tara), Cody, Dylan, and Amanda, and special friends Jim and Judy Hennessy. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Virginia Franklin; sister, Joann Franklin; brother, John Franklin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, LaVerne and Leona Resick, and brother-in-law, Randy Resick. A Celebration of Life for Bob's family will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
