Donald W. Bauer

1926 - 2016

Donald W. Bauer, 90, of 461 Main St., Kersey, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after an illness of the past several months.
He was born June 3, 1926 in St. Marys, son of the late Henry and Louise Knight Bauer. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He was the retired owner of the former Don Bauer's Auto Body.
On Oct. 11, 1944 in the St. Mary's Church, he married Helen M. Gillen, who preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2015.
Don was a member of the Queen of the World Church and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Don is survived by three daughters, Joyce Lander and her husband Tom of St. Marys, Donna Parker and her husband George of Dover, Delaware and Lois Fye and her husband Tom of St. Marys; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Vivian Sobierajski of Detroit, Michigan; and by two brothers, Melvin Bauer and his wife Delores and Glenn Bauer and his wife Peggy, both of St. Marys.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John H. Bauer; a granddaughter, Tammy Feidler; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Meyer; and by a brother, Lamar Bauer.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Donald W. Bauer to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Allen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
