K.C. Joseph Obituary
He was born May 28, 1947 in Kerala, Trivandrum, India, son of the late K. C. and Mary Thomas Chacko.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, attended Pre-University at Intermediate College, studied pre-med at Mar Ivanios College, and graduated Medical School from Government Medical College, all in Trivandrum, India. Dr. Joseph was a board certified surgeon, having served his internship at Doctor's Hospital in Washington, D.C., served his residency at Prince George's County Hospital in Cheverly, Md., served at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md., and in 1978 joined the staff at the Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital, now Penn Highlands Elk.
Dr. Joseph was a member of the Queen of the World Church, a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Medical Association. He was an artist and calligrapher.
He was married to Mary Lou Yockey Joseph, who survives, of Lancaster, and is also survived by his partner for the past 13 years, Amy Reed of St. Marys. He is survived by two daughters, Julie Joseph of San Diego, Calif. and Melissa Joseph of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, James K. Joseph and his wife Zoe of Philadelphia; and by a grandchild to be born this November. He is also survived by four sisters, Mary Mathew, Teresa Chacko, Elizabeth Chacko, and Claramma Chacko, all of India; and two brothers, K. C. Thomas and K. C. Francis, both of India.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, K. C. Chacko.
A Mass of Christian Burial for K. C. Joseph, M.D. will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Allen, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 11 from 5-8 p.m.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Rd., St. Marys, Pa. 15857; the Community Nurses, Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Rd., Suite 200, St. Marys, Pa. 15857; or to the Hahne Regional Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, Pa. 15801.

Doctor: Joseph was a friend of mine.We studied in the same Medical School and did our internship together in DC.He was a very good friend .

Tom and Donna Goode seen Dr. Joseph at the hospital, 3 day before he was light flighted. dr. Joseph said hi back and gave us that beautiful smile he had. We regret loosing such a good Dr. dr. We,the classmates of 1964 MBBS batch of Trivandrum Medical college , India are overwhelmed by grief as we heard the news of the sad and untimely demise of our close friend Dr. K C Joseph. We had only recently met in Trivandrum Dec. 13 & 14 last year. The occasion brought back memories of those by-gone years. We shared the fondness and reminisced the sweet past. On day 1 of our reunion we were enthralled by a melody song rendered by K C. I remember how greatly he enjoyed every moment of those two days in our company. Who would have thought that destiny would snatch away our dear friend in such a short time?

If doctor Joseph had not come into to hospital in the middle of the night,my apendix would of burst and i might not be here,and one thing i loved was the picture he sent home with me of my apendix,i still have it and look at it every so often,and now it will mean a little more...rest in peace.

Years ago, when Dr. Keebler died, my parents said they felt like they lost a friend. I did not understand. My mother in law said the same thing when Dr. Coppolo passed. Again I did not understand. Dr. Joseph was a great Doctor to the community he had made a big impact on everyone and is a great loss to the community and everyone who knew him and loved him. Last year i needed my very first surgery ever in my life and was scared to death. He came into my room and held my hand and talked to me until i was calm. His ever happy and smiling face lit up the whole hospitol, which will never be the same. RIP Dr Joe, and fly high with the angels.

We're very saddened to hear of Dr.Joseph's passing. He was a special person and left and enormous footprint in this world. Our condolences to his family and loved ones. He was with my mom when she passed and I was amazed at the heartfelt concern he showed for all his patients; the elderly were just as important as the young. His 'care' made that time just a little easier for us. He has doctored others too, in our family, and I think most people agree, he was outstanding in his area of expertise, as well as his humanity.
