My thoughts and prayers go out to the Samanka family. I remember Gene's kind words about my dad at his viewing a couple of years ago.

Deepest sympathy to the Samanka family. Have known Gene beginning with little league; then college as my fraternity big brother and then to work with him. Gene had many great qualities. He was kind and unselfish. I will miss his congeniality and friendship. He will be truly missed.

I had the privilege of working with Gene while at the NWIRC. He was a mentor, colleague, and friend. His sense of humor and professionalism are two of his many qualities I remember most. Please accept my heartfelt condolence, Dori (and family). May this wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend rest in eternal peace.

Your hearts will soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate his life. I loved his story telling about life in the Army.

Dori and family;
I grew up in Sykesville, but didn't have the pleasure to know Gene until my daughter went to DCC. He was her guidance counselor. When she graduated she went to Chicago to college not knowing a soul. As a parent, I was terrified. You and your husband went to a bridal show and Gene thoughtfully took the time to meet Dana at a pizza shop. That was so sweet. When you returned to DuBois, I called him to see how his meeting with Dana went. He was so assuring and it was comforting to know that "she looked good", "she's happy", "she has friends". That made such a difference to me. Thank you for lending him to a petrified parent that day. He was a good man and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Gene.
