Robert (Bob) Gonzalez Lopez, 93, died peacefully January 6, 2023, at his home in Glen Ellen, CA in the company of his longtime partner Gary Bottone. Born July 23, 1929, to Abelardo and Mildred (Gullett) Lopez in Chicago, IL, Bob was raised in Northbrook, Il and was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Mariana Lopez Gleason and Abelardo Lopez, Jr.
Bob graduated from Lake Forest Academy, then earned magna cum laude honors at Brown University. Serving with the U.S. Air Force Intelligence in the Korean War era, he then continued his career with Kaiser Aluminum in the Bay Area, throughout Europe and the Middle East. After returning to the Bay Area, he and Gary owned and operated a historic vineyard in Glen Ellen for many years before enjoying 20+ years of retirement.
An accomplished pianist from an early age, music was his life-long passion including daily interaction with his piano, as well as opera, and symphony performances. His love of reading books of all genres enriched his life and love of learning. His memory and sense of humor were superlative.
Survivors include seven nieces and nephews, in addition to numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. At his request, no services will be held.
