Beloved Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Son, Tom went to join his Heavenly family on Aug 19, 2024. Born Thomas John Graf in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, to Gene and Marie Graf, Tom traveled with his family to put down roots in Sonoma, California, in 1958. As Tom was growing up in Sonoma, the elementary schools he attended did not accommodate all the grades, so ultimately he attended El Verano, Prestwood, and Sassarini schools. Consequently when he went to middle school at the newly built Altimira Middle School, he knew almost everyone! It was at Altimira that he met Shawn McCoy, whom he would one day marry and raise his children with on the beautiful shores of Laguna Beach, while spending many holidays visiting family in Sonoma. Tom loved to take his family snow skiing in the winters and water skiing in the summers. Tom had an eye for beauty. He began his construction management career in Aspen, Colorado, and over the years oversaw the completion of some of the most beautiful homes in the most beautiful locations, including Aspen, Vail, Sonoma, Napa, and Laguna Beach. Tom's talent and creativity in assisting with home design for his clientele over the years was both sought after and greatly appreciated.
Tom is survived by his adored mother, Marie Graf; the pride of his life his children, Zachary Graf, Savannah Graf, and Moragh Graf; his brother Robert Graf; and his sisters Theresa Graf Proell (Steve), Margaret Graf Smith (Mark), and Mary Graf Caletges (Mark). Tom is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews, and by his former wife and the mother of his children, Shawn McCoy Graf. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Albert Graf.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Friday October 4, 2024, at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church, 469 Third Street West, in Sonoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
