Donna Freeze Obituary

Donna L. Freeze Feb. 13, 1929 - Aug. 21, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Donna Freeze, 85, entered into eternity with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 21, 2014. She was born Donna LaVerne Weber on February 13, 1929, to Philip and Zelpha (Scott) Weber in Mishawaka, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Freeze, who died on June 7, 2012; son-in-law, Jay Schreiner; in-laws, Harold and Eileen (Freeze) Snyder; and niece, Dianne Wilson. She was married to Tom Freeze on December 20, 1947. Surviving Donna are her six children: Carol (Michael) Berry of West Chicago, Illinois, Gail (David) Lewin of Fernadina Beach, Florida, Mary Beth Schreiner of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Ellen (David) Conner of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Thomas Weber Freeze of Lakewood, Colorado, and Julia (Lyndon) Azcuna of Buchanan, Michigan. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Sarah (Tyler) Dobelbower, Daniel, Anne and Kathlyn Conner, as well as Donna, Hannah, Julia, Sophia, Isaac and Samuel Azcuna; along with two great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Marlo Dobelbower. She is also survived by siblings, Phyllis (Owen) Barrett, Irma (Robert) Fox, Marilyn (Richard) Wilson, Donald (Linda) Weber, Margaret Struss and John Weber; as well as in-laws, Carol (William) Hoel, Vern (Betty) Freeze and Robert (Harriet) Freeze. In addition, she has 44 nieces and nephews from the Freeze and Weber clans. Donna grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana. Once married, the Freeze family lived in various places over the years: Columbus, Indiana; Charles City, Iowa; Berwyn, Pennsylvania; Fort Dodge and Des Moines, Iowa; and finally, Granger, Indiana, where she lived the last 25 years. She made lifelong friends in each of these places. Her greatest joy was being a mother, her chosen vocation, and spending time with her family. Her faith was very important to her. She was a longtime champion of the unborn and supported many related ministries. She was on the local board of the National Day of Prayer, another ministry close to her heart. She served in Bible Study Fellowship as a small group leader for ten years and was much loved by the women she led. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 26th, from 10-11, at Fulkerson Park Baptist Church, 1234 Fulkerson Road, Niles, Michigan 49120. A memorial service celebrating Donna's life will follow at 11 a.m. She is much loved and honored by her children, family, and friends and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Scripture Union Uganda, for our longtime friend and ministry partner, Beth Baleke. Tom and Donna Freeze have a lasting legacy with significant contributions they made for the Scripture Union Camp Site in Kampala, Uganda, which is now serving children and families there. Please send contributions to Scripture Union USA, P.O. Box 215, Valley Forge, PA, 19481-0215. Please write "S.U. Uganda missionary Beth Baleke" in the memo section to make sure the donation is designated for Uganda. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
