Jacquelyn Ford Obituary

Jacquelyn R. Ford

Dec. 4, 1941 - June 14, 2016

SOUTH BEND - Jacqueline “Jackie” Ford passed away on June 14, 2016, at her home in Alpharetta, GA. She was 74. Jackie was a longtime South Bend resident, born in Memorial Hospital on December 4, 1941.

Jackie attended Riley High School in South Bend but graduated from Ponca City High School in Oklahoma after moving with her family to Turkey in 1957. She then returned to the States to finish her diploma.

After high school she became a flight attendant and traveled the world. She eventually moved back to South Bend and was a sales representative for Victory Beauty Supply. She retired from Victory in 2005 but continued to work as an aesthetician. She was an avid stained glass crafter, an excellent cook, and continued to travel the world until her final days.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Lauri (Tony) Rixom of Alpharetta, GA, and Kristina (Italo) Veronese of Salsomaggiore, Italy; a sister, Debbie Ray of South Bend, IN; and six grandchildren, Liam Rixom, Lyonya Rixom and Vika Rixom, all of Alpharetta, GA, and Asia Parri, Sophia Parri and Vivienne Veronese of Salsomaggiore, Italy; two nieces, Peggy Nunley and Donna Whitty; and her sister-in-law, Renate Harris; a great-niece, Katelyn Whitty, and a great-nephew, Joshua Whitty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Ford; her mother, Marjorie Ray; stepfather, Bert Ray; sister, Pamela Bergen; brother, Robert Harris; and a niece, Lisa Marie Nunley.

We will miss your amazing laugh, warm humor and beautiful smile. She was a wonderful mother, amazing grandmother, devoted sister, and affectionate aunt...her courage and humor during her 18-year illness sustained all who loved her. She will be in our hearts forever.

A celebration of her life will be held in Alpharetta on a date to be announced.

Her light shone brightly, even as our team met her in her later days. Her smile and grace and poise spoke to the woman. I pray you find peaceful rest. Thank you for the smiles you brought.

Jackie, as I remember her grew up in my neighborhood. Her parents owned Ray's Drive-in during the 40"s and 50's. It was a hang out for the kids in the area. There was a pond behind the place and Jackie had a raft which she took us on one Sunday after church. She was a beautiful, friendly person and was good a softball player. I will always remember her her smile! May God grant her peace and His Love.
