Jesse Scott Obituary

Aug. 17, 1930 - June 14, 2012
ROLLING PRAIRIE - Mr. Jesse J. Scott, 81, of Rolling Prairie, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 5:14 A.M. at IU Health LaPorte Hospital after a brief illness. He was born August 17, 1930 in Flat Rock, IL to Jesse and Mildred (Goodwin) Scott, living in the area since 1948, coming from Oblong, IL. Jesse had been employed by Allis-Chalmers painting department for 35 years and had worked at Le Mans Academy for 5 years in maintenance. On October 30, 1954 in LaPorte he married Marion E. DeLavern, who survives. He attended the First Christian Church of Rolling Prairie, IN. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Rolling Prairie V.F.W. Post #9423. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He leaves his wife, Marion E. Scott of Rolling Prairie, IN; 2 daughters, Roberta E. (Wayne) Heminger of Goodland, IN and Julie A. (Michael) Levendowski of Mill Creek, IN; 1 son, Monty L. (Pamela) Scott of New Carlisle, IN; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Frye of Robison, IL and Patricia Ritter of West Branch, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; 3 sisters, Lois Scott, Reba Servison, and Rose Gilbert; and 2 brothers, Grandeville and Wilbur Scott. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Essling Funeral Home with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating. The visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday 4-8:00 P.M. and noon-1:00 Saturday. Burial will be in Rolling Prairie Cemetery on Saturday following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LaPorte Salvation Army Food Bank, 3240 Monroe Street, LaPorte, IN 46350.
