MISHAWAKA - Joan V. Simrell, 80, of Mishawaka, IN, died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN. She was born on October 5, 1929 in Ohio to Vernon & Motta (Anderson) Bird. Joan was a Home Health Care Medical Assistant. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Joan enjoyed doing needlepoint, crafts, reading, going shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters, Joanie R. (Tim) Ezell of Mishawaka, IN, Marsha J. (Charles) Hamlin of Osceola, IN, and Sandra A. (Ken) Hall of Niles, MI; three sons, Tom R. (Patty) Simrell of Niles, MI, Bill R. Simrell of Terre Haute, IN, and Vernon P. (Connie) Simrell of Terre Haute, IN; nine grandchildren, Sydney, Sammy, Sophia, Courtney, Aaron, Jason, Billy, Jessica and Mandy; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Sammy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 in the Cedar Road Missionary Church, 525 Cedar Road, Osceola, IN, with Pastor Jack Truex officiating. Elkhart Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation will take Place Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Mom, we miss you so very much and we know you are at peace and with God.
