John E. Yocom

July 23, 1937 - July 7, 2017

NEW CARLISLE - John E. Yocom, 79, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 in his home. He was born on July 23, 1937 in Union, Illinois, to the late Jesse and Gladys (Husher) Yocom. On May 16, 1959, John married Judith Ann Bean, who preceded him in death on December 7, 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Mae (Jerry) Wilkinson of New Carlisle, Indiana; three grandchildren, Crystal (Michael) Lewis, April (Chris) Jones, and Joseph (Nichole) Wilkinson, all of New Carlisle; 8 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Noah, Alexander, Emma, Joseph, Michael, Hunter, and Katelynn; and his sister, Naomi (Brent) Gillis of Lawrenceville, Georgia. John is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Jan Cohen. John was an iron worker for the Local Union 292. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of the American Legion Post 297. John enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. EST in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle, Indiana on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. A Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 p.m., with full military honors being conducted. Burial will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in John's honor to the Center for Hospice Care. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
