Carol Anne "Toirac-Denton" Michael

Carol Anne (Toirac-Denton) Michael, 82, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on January 28, 2026.

Carol was born on November 5, 1943, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Reverend Florent and Dorothy Toirac, who were serving as missionaries at the time. During her childhood, her family traveled throughout Europe-spending significant time in France-dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They later settled in Winona Lake, Indiana, where Carol attended Grace College and met Carroll Denton. The two were married and were blessed with seven daughters.

Carol lived a life defined by faith, creativity, and service. She shared the love of Christ through numerous ministries, served as a guest pastor in area churches, and was known by many as a powerful prayer warrior. Her talents were wide and varied-she was an artist, an opera singer, and a longtime performer at the LaPorte Little Theatre. She loved the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing, and had a strong "DIY spirit" long before it became popular. One of her proudest accomplishments was purchasing a condemned house and single-handedly renovating it from top to bottom, including all plumbing and electrical work.

Later in life, Carol treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She remained spunky and full of life even as her health declined, finding joy in simple moments-especially her Sunday drives with her daughter, Dawn. One night, while peacefully sleeping, Jesus met her in her dreams and carried her home.

Carol is survived by her seven daughters: Mita Denton (JR Shepherd) of Warsaw, Indiana; Holly Velasquez of Bremen, Indiana; Dawn Denton of South Bend, Indiana; Robin Kibe of New Carlisle, Indiana; Tonya (Mark) Small of Indianapolis, Indiana; Dara (Jim) Goodlink of South Bend, Indiana; and Ramey (Ben) Jennings of Three Oaks, Michigan. She is also survived by her sister, Sue (Richard) Stump of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her brother, Tom Toirac of Ohio; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lois Theiss.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held when the weather is warmer, with details to be shared with family and friends at a later date.

Carol's legacy of faith, strength, creativity, and compassion lives on in the generations she shaped. She will be deeply missed.
