MISHAWAKA - Patrick Joseph Perri, 88, of Henderson, Nevada, and formerly of Mishawaka, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, following a brief illness and a broken heart from the recent loss of his beloved wife, Rose. Pat was born November 24, 1924, in Anderson, Indiana, a son of the late Sam and Elizabeth (Perri) Perri. He grew up in Mishawaka and was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Pat married Rose Marie Szymczak on September 9, 1950, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend. The couple made Mishawaka their home. In 1969, Pat and Rose established Pat's Colonial Pub in Mishawaka. They owned and operated the business where they worked beside each other until 1990 when they retired and moved to Nevada. After retirement, Rose and Pat continued their friendships with past employees and patrons of the restaurant and have many dear friends. After enjoying retirement for a while, Pat was asked to manage the restaurant at the Skyline Casino in Henderson which he did for several years. Pat always had a smile on his face and enjoyed doing for others. In later years, woodworking became his passion, and he would make different items and donate them to schools and other non-profit organizations in Nevada and Indiana. Pat was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Mishawaka. He also belonged to the Elks Lodge, Diloreto Society and Mishawaka High School Alumni Association. Pat's surviving family includes eleven children, Martina (Dale) Freeman of Mishawaka, Monica (Ken) Birdsall of Atlantis, FL, Michele Hartsough of Greensboro, NC, Samuel (Connie) Perri of Mishawaka, Patrick (Patience) Perri of South Bend, Melani (Dusty) Howard of West Palm Beach, FL, Manette Vernasco of St. Cloud, FL, Marianne Candler of Mishawaka, Micolette Perri of Granger, Rock Perri of South Bend and Marisa (Mark) Moreland of Mishawaka; a sister, Connie Bilancio; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, who passed away on May 15th; a grandson, Nicholas Perri; a son-in-law, James Hartsough; five sisters, Minnie Sencrie, Catherine DeSimone Eslinger, Mary Marando, Grace Baldoni and Anna Zirille; and two brothers, Frank and Dominic Perri. Mass of Christian Burial for Pat and Rose Perri will be celebrated Friday, May 31, at 10:30 am in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may spend time with the family Thursday, May 30, from 3 - 7 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, and Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 am in the church. If Pat could have written his own obituary he would have said, "In my memory do something nice for someone today. God Bless." God Bless Pat and Rose! They blessed us with their kindness and caring! I used to travel to Las Vegas often and would always call on Pat while there. I worked with Sam on the Mishawaka Fire Dept. Also with their son-in-law Dale Freeman. My sympathies go out to them and the entire Perri family.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Pat and Rose. Aunt Annie Zirille always cherished her family (siblings, in-laws and nieces/nephews) and talked of the wonderful times with family, quite often at the restaurant. Thanks for all that you've done for so many in the Mishawaka/South Bend Community.

God Bless the Perri Family.

Sam and Pat Jr. were my childhood best friends I spent many of my childhood days at the Perri household where they always made me feel like part of the family. I also would sleep over quite a few nights during those years, waking up on a Saturday morning where it seemed everyone had a cup of coffee in front of them and Pat was at the stove making his " Daddy Eggs".
Thank you Pat and Rose and your loving children and the rest of the Perri family for those wonderful memories.
I have been blessed to have had you in my life.
Condolences to all!

To all the Perri family, my deepest sympathy on the loss of your parents. I can never express in words what your father did for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, and how much they loved seeing Pat and your mother. May the Lord give you strength during this time.

The Kelly's are all so saddened to hear of your parents passing...such love and devotion that they go together. Most appropriate since they were together so much in life! We saw them last year in Henderson and they both looked fabulous and were anxious to show us around the city!!! We all have such great memories of the restaurant, the music, decor and the people! We loved them and will miss them. The ND contention up above just got larger and now they have a
bartender and a hostess!!

May Gods eternal light shine upon Rose and Pat Perri.

Mr. P,
I'll never forget as a young teenager as a friend fo the family and neighbor you told me "If I ever needed any thing come to you" I just remember how special that made me feel. I'll never forget you and Rose as neighbors, friends and wonderful hosts in Vegas each and every time I visited there. Also, wonderful parants to my dear friends. Enjoy your wood-working in Heaven. God will love your special Rosarys you make as well as we did. Loving memories of Pat and Rose.

Thank you, Pat --- I'm one of the lucky ones who received the gift of your woodwork - a maroon and white MHS clock. I think of you each time I check the time of day.
May you and "your Rose" rest in peace.

My condolences to Pat and Rose family. For many years I had lunch or dinner at Pat's Pub and always felt more like a family member rather than a customer. R.I.P. Pat and "Thanks For The Memories".

I FIRST MET PAT IN THE EARLY 1960'S, WHEN HE WAS TENDING BAR AND MANAGING ROCKY'S ON THE CORNER OF LWE & SAMPLE . HE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE AND A FRIENDLY WORD. OVER THE YEARS THAT TRAIT NEVER CHANGED.
PAT LEFT HIS MARK ON THE WORLD AND ON THE PEOPLE WHO HE CAME IN CONTACT WITH. HE SHALL BE MISSED. HE AND ROSE WILL SPEND ETERNITY TOGETHER AS THEY DID IN LIFE
