SOUTH BEND - Robert “Bob” Dean Bybee, 70, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

Bob was born on November 2, 1947 in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Gilbert and Travis (Roarke) Bybee and has lived in the South Bend area most of his life. Bob worked at Kroger as a meat cutter for over 21 years. He also was co-owner of Harp Computer Systems in Ocala, FL for several years.

On December 9, 1977 in Mishawaka, IN, he married Jeannette (Jarrett) Bybee, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Pam (Jeff) Armstead of Edwardsburg, MI, Ann (Tim) Taylor of Anderson, IN, and Vicki Harvey of Mishawaka, IN; son, Kevin (Veronica) Howard of South Bend; eight grandchildren, Mallory Armstead, Morgan Armstead, Joshua (Rachel) Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Samuel Taylor, Elizabeth Harvey, Haylee Matthews, and Tyler Matthews; two great-grandchildren, Noah Perez and Bentley Perez; his sister, Cindy Kovach of South Bend; along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his three brothers, Jim Bybee, Charlie Bybee, and Ron Bybee.

Family was the most important thing to him, being the patriarch of the Bybee family. He did his best to attend every event or activity that was important to his family, whether athletic event, band concert, graduation, or wedding. Near or far, he was always present.

Bob knew no strangers and had no enemies. He did his best to make everyone feel welcome, by joking with them and picking on them in his own unique way. It never took people long to figure this out and embrace him wholeheartedly.

He took great pride in his lawn, garden and flower beds planted and tended to by he and his wife. He loved to show them off to everyone who visited them.

Bob was an avid sports fan, particularly Notre Dame. He was a true fan of all Notre Dame sports, remaining loyal win or lose.

Funeral Services for Bob will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Services will be officiated by Tim Taylor, Joshua Taylor, and Caleb Taylor. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 13 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
