SOUTH BEND - Ruth Barbara Cottrell, 84, of South Bend, passed away on December 22, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Ruth was born on September 4, 1928, in Muskegon, Michigan, to the late Willet "Bill" and Leona (Winters) Simmerman. She had lived in South Bend most of her life. Ruth retired from Associates as a supervisor in 1984 after 27 years of dedication. On September 7, 1946, in South Bend, she married Donald S. Cottrell, who preceded her in death on September 24, 2009. Ruth is survived by her son, Patrick (Gloria) Cottrell of South Bend; one grandson, Paul (Lenore) Cottrell of Cave Springs, AR; and one great-granddaughter, Juliana Cottrell. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary M. Cottrell, and her siblings, Bertha Becklin, Virginia Humphries and Allen Simmerman. Funeral services will be held privately at Palmer Funeral Home, Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614. Ruth will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. Contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to Alzheimer's Services, 922 East Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617. Pat we girls at the shop enjoyed your mom. She was a great lady.My brother Ron saw your mom at the shop a few weeks ago, he was schocked to see her obituary. All of us at the shop will miss her. Tuesday will not be the same without her.
