Ted A. Cundiff Feb. 11, 1940 - Mar. 22, 2014 BERRIEN SPRINGS - Ted A. Cundiff, 74, of Berrien Springs, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Berrien Springs United Methodist Church, with Reverend Jane Logston officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. Ted was born February 11, 1940, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the son of Graydon F. and Ada (Dodd) Cundiff. He graduated in 1958 from Parkersburg High School, where he was a state champion golfer. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He moved to Berrien Springs in the early 1960s and worked for Essex Wire. He also worked part-time for McLauchlin Funeral Home and lived in the garage apartment. On September 26, 1964, in Berrien Springs, he married Charlene Moon. He worked as a building materials salesman for Norandex in Niles, and later started his own business, Michiana Wholesale Company, doing similar work. Over the years he also worked for The Home Depot, Lowe's, and Carter Lumber. He added his own photography business, Cundiff Photography, in 1981, which led to his becoming news and sports photographer for The Journal Era newspaper in Berrien Springs. He enjoyed taking photographs of weddings, senior and family portraits, and especially sports and school functions for Berrien Springs Public Schools and Eau Claire Public Schools. Ted was past president of the Homebuilders Association of Michiana. He had been an active member of the Berrien Springs Jaycees and Lions Club. He was currently secretary of the Berrien Springs Golf League at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course, where he held two of the course records--he shot a 29 on November 1, 1964, on the East Course, and he has held the West Course record for over 30 years. He helped coach the Berrien Springs High School Golf Team in his spare time. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Charlene; two daughters, Cami (Roger) Coleman of Berrien Springs and Tanya Diepenhorst of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Andrew and Bradley Coleman, Nikita and Austin Diepenhorst, and Gabriel Lepp; sister, Connie (Terry) Ullom of Kalispell, Montana; sister-in-law, Marlene Mast of Berrien Springs; and mother-in-law, Eleanor Moon Kephart of Berrien Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Donald Cogar; and father-in-law, Dale Moon.
