William (Bill) C. Diehl, Sr. Aug. 22, 1937 - Mar. 7, 2015 ELKHART - The world was blessed with an angel in Bill Diehl. The loving husband, adoring father, special grandpa and true friend of many was called back to the arms of the Lord on March 7, 2015. Bill was born August 22, 1937 in Elkhart to William C. & Gretchen (Auburn) Diehl. On October 31, 2005 he married Sherrill D. (Sinton) Knoblock in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. She survives along with his three loving children, Bill Diehl, Jr. of Union, MI, Thom (Cybil) Diehl of Elkhart, IN and Susan Diehl of Union, MI; two step children, Todd (Cheryl) Knoblock of Elkhart and Wendi (Ron) Farr of Kalamazoo, MI; the mother of his children, Katie Sautter of Bristol, IN; and his loving sisters, Sylvia (Jim) Whitmer of South Bend, IN, Nancy Fuehrer of Strongsville, OH and Carol (Raymond) Byers of Lafayette, IN. Bill was blessed with eleven loving grandchildren, Nikki (Charlene) Shinos-Davis, Mekayla Diehl, Chip Diehl, Raleigh Ball, Brandon Wade, Chelsea (Bruce) Allen, Dylon Diehl, Dalton Diehl, Monica (Mike) King, Chase Knoblock and Kathryn Farr and twelve great-grandchildren. Bill has joined in heaven his loving mother and father, his loving stepfather, Ed Fay and his brother, Jimmy Diehl. Bill was the owner of D & M Glass for over 42 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Elkhart Elks Lodge #425, the Order of the Moose, Eastlake Racket Club, the Simonton Lake Sportsman's Club, and the Port Carlos Cove Men's Club. In his spare time he enjoyed salt water fishing and boating on the Gulf of Mexico and shuffleboard in the winter. A favorite past time of his was the restoration of his Mustang and his daily lunch at his favorite restaurant, "Michaels", seeing the same patrons daily. He was an avid NASCAR fan never to miss a race, and played tennis with many of the same players for many years. Visitation will held from 5-7 p.m. Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the funeral home. Chaplain Ed Wiswell with the Center for Hospice Care will preside and cremation will follow the service.
