HOLDEN, W.Va. — Brad Daniel Houck, 36, of Holden, departed this life Wed., Oct. 9, 2013, in Charleston after an extended illness.
Brad was born September 14, 1977, in Logan, a son of Wade Houck of Holden and Janet Nunley Houck of Holden.
Brad was an outgoing person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was the director of accounting and human resources for Tax Management Associates Inc. in Charlotte, N.C. for many years prior to his illness. His passion was giving back to others. In 2011, he received Stand Out Charlotte Award for his devotion to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and numerous other charities over the years.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Wade and Dicie Houck, and Teddy Nunley; one nephew, Ty Wade-Allen Shadd; one aunt, Bonnie Spears; two uncles, K.J. and Jerry Nunley, and three cousins.
Survivors include his father, Wade (Anita Drake) Houck; mother, Janet Nunley Houck; grandmother, Jenny Nunley; sister, Shavonne (Anthony) Shadd; nephew, Gage Shadd; four aunts, Betty (Butch) Davis, Gail (Tom) Marcum, Aileen (Clifford) Perry and Nina (Denny) Mahone; uncle, Dent (Brenda) Nunley; 24 first cousins; 20 second cousins; his beloved dogs, Madison and Sophia, and many special friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 12, at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Uncle Rodney Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Wigginton, Jason Williams, Marty Horn, Rodney Vann and Edward Howard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Suite 200, Bethesda, MD 20814.
