Betty Parsons Obituary

Betty (Blinn) Parsons, 97, of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died peacefully Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late William T. Parsons. Born in Stoneham, the daughter of the late J. Herbert and Ethel (Jackson) Blinn, she was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School. She continued her education at Winchester Hospital School of Nursing earning a degree as a registered nurse. Betty worked professionally as a registered nurse, both in the hospital and nursing home industry. She was a resident of Brockton for more than 50 years before she moved to Bridgewater in 2005. Betty was an avid New England Patriots fan with signed memorabilia from Andre Tippet and Rob Gronkowski. She always had a book in hand, as reading was a favorite pastime. She also enjoyed trivia and was a history buff of WWII events. She spent most of her summers at her family home in Pemaquid Point, Maine, where she took pleasure visiting friends and providing tours of the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. Betty had a great sense of humor and quick wit. She was devoted to her family. She looked forward to opportunities to care for her grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed listening to her son-in-law, Thom, play the guitar and would often join in to sing. She loved animals and especially adored cats. Betty is survived by her children, Suzanne Bergeron and her husband Thom of Bridgewater, Herbert Parsons and his wife Marcia of Easton, and Geri Parsons of Lexington; a brother, Richard Blinn of Billerica and Naples, FL.; five grandchildren, Kate Bergeron and her fiance Joseph Garrity of Beverly, Kimberly Bergeron and her fiance Adam Marshall of West Bridgewater, David Bergeron and his wife Kate of Dedham, Andrew Parsons of Easton and Devon Parsons of Easton; she was also the mother of the late William T. Parsons Jr. and sister of the late Donald Blinn and Herbert Blinn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte. 138), Easton, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bettys memory may be sent to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Rd, Wilton, NH 03086. For directions or condolences, kanefuneralhome.com.

My son Dylan had the pleasure of spending a weekend with the Parsons at their family home in Maine. Dylan had a wonderful time but the one thing he commented on when he got home was that he really enjoyed watching the comedy show Everyone Loves Raymond with Nana Betty. Dylan had never seen the show and discovered he was a huge fan. He also found he was a fan of Nana's as he thought her to be excellent company, fun and interesting to talk to- the two enjoyed many episodes of the show together over that weekend and it's a really nice memory he has of her! Rest Peacefully Nana Betty.
