David Anthony Daversa, 64, of Lakeville, passed on surrounded by his loving family on August 1, 2016, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Marie (Herbert) Daversa for 44 years. He lived the first 36 years of his life in Brockton, attending Brockton schools, and graduated from Brockton High School in 1970. He also studied business at Stonehill College. His first job was with his Uncle Wally Allegro at Allegros Mens Clothing Store. He went on to be co-owner of Tuxedos by Roberts in Brockton with his cousin Fran Garcea. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and spent the remainder of his career in the food sales industry, managing the Marketplace at Cirelli Foods, and retiring with Agar/Reinhart Foodservice Company as a salesman. David was a lifelong Patriots and Red Sox fan. He enjoyed going to the gym and walking outdoors. He liked playing the guitar, singing, golfing, gardening, traveling and taking a ride to Twin River. Most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, a good scotch, a roaring fire, and a lifetime of Sunday dinners Italian style. David was very spiritual and in his younger years was a parishioner at St. Colemans Church in Brockton and for the last 30 years he attended Sts. Martha and Mary Church in Lakeville. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Marie Daversa; daughter, Tracey Chestnut and husband Robert of Lakeville, Gina McCarthy and husband Eric of Whitman; grandchildren, Anthony, Tyler, Ava, William, and Alexander; his sister, Pamela Jones and husband Robert of Bridgewater; his brother-in-law, James Herbert and wife Deborah of Yule, Florida; brother-in-law, John Herbert and wife Linda of Cape Coral, Florida; and brother-in-law, William Herbert and Janet also of Cape Coral, Florida; his sister-in-law, Marie Breen and husband George Jr. of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews. I recently learned of David´s death. I worked with David and Billy in Westwood and then in Brockton at the old fire house while in high school. I loved working with both of them. David was a joy and great mentor before I went to Umaine. I will always remember him and take what he taught me through the rest of my life. I will never forget seeing him at the bruins game and the golf course. Both of those times were surprises. Very special to see him on those two occasions. So sorry for your loss.

David’s presence in a room automatically made you smile. His personality was larger than life! He had a way that made me feel good and could make you forget about whatever was bothering you. Before you know you were all laughing about something! What a gift , and he shared it with everyone , that was lucky to know him!

I will never forget the gleam in his eyes, the smile he had for everyone, the nickname he gave me, but most of all I will miss the way he made me feel when I was with him!
David is and always will be my friend!
He defines the meaning of a true Gentleman!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Daversa Family. I worked with David at Cirelli's Marketplace from my freshman year of high school through my sophomore year of college. Dave had a great sense of humor, was very kind, and always had a smile on his face. My hope is for the family to find peace and to remember all of the great memories with him. I am very sorry for your loss. David, you will be missed for sure.
