Jeffrey Cooney Obituary

Jeffrey Joseph Cooney, of Bridgewater, a Stonehill College freshman, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011. Jeffrey was born on Oct. 29, 1992 in Norwood, MA before moving to Bridgewater at the age of 5. Jeffrey was the fourth of five brothers, all of whom will remember him as loving and "unbelievably intelligent". He was a bio-chemistry major. Jeffrey was fun-loving, generous, compassionate, well-liked young man who was the first to help anyone in need. He spent a lot of his time making his friends and family laugh. He was a friend to everyone with whom he came in contact. Jeffrey graduated from Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School in May 2011. He was captain of the cross-country team, a member of the National Honor Society, and participated on the track teams. He received the "Best of the Bunch" award in 2008 and was voted the superlative "Friendliest" during his senior year. Jeffrey was selected to participate on the Bridge Program at Stonehill College. He was a devoted member of the Stonehill Chapel. Jeffrey is survived and will be greatly missed by his parents, Brian and Suzanne Cooney; his brothers Michael, Christopher, Steven and Ryan; Grandson of Gloria E. Hand of Worcester and the late Paul D. Hand, Lucille Y. Cooney and companion William Andrews of Marlboro. Jeffrey was also the grandson of the late Bernard Cooney. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his countless friends throughout Bridgewater and Stonehill College. Visiting hours in the Prophett- Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater, Tuesday 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Mary Stonehill College, 320 Washington Street, Easton, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial in Scotland Cemetery, Bridgewater. Words can't express our sorrow. We spent alot of time with Jeff ... he was a wonderful boy. We are thankful that we did get to know him. He left a lasting impression. He will be missed terribly.
