Robert Ferrante Obituary

Robert M. Bob Ferrante, age 64, of Plympton died Saturday October 3, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Martina J. (Turowski) Ferrante for 39 years. Bob was born in Winthrop and raised in East Bridgewater, a son of the late Anthony and Nina (Nobilio) Ferrante and had lived in Plympton for the past 22 years. Bob was a 1969 graduate of East Bridgewater High School where he was class president and president of the National Honor Society. He earned his bachelors degree in music magna cum laude from Boston University and masters degree in education summa cum laude from Fitchburg State University. Bob enjoyed a lengthy and accomplished career in music as both an educator and performer. In 2010, Bob retired from the Brockton School System after 22 years as a teacher and band leader. He loved hearing of the many successes of his former students both in their musical or professional lives. As a performer, Bob was the drummer for Dale and the Duds and principal French horn with the Brockton Symphony, United Brass Quintet and South Shore Concert Band. He also played with the Cosmo Legion Band and Marion town band. During an interruption in his teaching career, Bob had worked for several years with Automotive Associates in Marshfield. In his free time, Bob enjoyed cars, computer and electronics, coin collecting and cooking. Most importantly, Bob will be remembered as a man who loved people, was an inspirational and hard worker with strong ethics and was extremely witty and charismatic. Before his death he said Ive had a wonderful life with a beautiful wife and wonderful son. I was blessed with a life that was filled with musicplaying the best classical music on my French horn, playing classic rock and roll on my drums, having an occupation that filled me with joy, having a strong faith in God, and inspiring many, many people in their lives. In addition to his wife Martina, Bob leaves his loving son Marc A. Ferrante. He was the bother of Joseph F. Ferrante of Weymouth and the late James A. Ferrante. He also leaves many Turowski in-laws and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), Brockton, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-5 p.m. His memorial service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Mayflower Congregational Church, 207 Main St., Kingston. Dear Tina and Marc,

Heard via our girls of Bob's passing. Know that in spite of the miles separating us, you were in our hearts, and our love for you guys never faded. We fondly recall ALL our musical associations around Mayflower Church - the ensemble, the choir, and the lessons at your home. All this and heaven too!! Bob just went ahead of us, and we know we will join him! May our God of all comfort be your peace and joy in this time. Love you in Jesus' Name,

Ron and Anne

Goodbye, Bob, my friend of over 50 years. What stories we shared together!

One final piece of advice - How to get into heaven?

Pull your car up to the gate, roll down the window, lean your elbow out and say,
"I'm with the band!"

The joy provided through the music of thousands of Bob's students will live on and honor him for many years. He was a great man and fabulous teacher. This is a great loss for all who knew him and certainly for his family. The music in heaven will play on with a new angel to join the band. Rest in peace.
