Sheila Stewart Obituary

Sheila W. (Lawton) Stewart, 83, a lifelong resident of Brockton died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, following a brief illness at her sisters home in North Chelmsford. She was the daughter of the late Frederick H. and Christina T. (Twohig) Lawton and wife of the late Kenneth P. Stewart. Sheila was a graduate of the former St. Patrick High School in Brockton and Wheelock College. She was a dedicated homemaker who worked diligently to raise her three children alone following the untimely death of her husband Kenneth many years ago. She had been a teacher for the Head Start Program in Brockton, a cook and longtime volunteer for the Holy Cross Retreat House in Easton; as well as a great supporter of My Brothers Keeper. She is remembered as a wonderful mother and friend to many. Sheila is survived by her children, Kenneth P. Stewart of San Diego, Calif., Christine ONeil of Stratham, N.H., and Paul Stewart of Kingston, N.H.; her siblings, Marguerite (Lawton) Doucet Ofria of N. Chelmsford, Mary OMalley of Concord and Richard Lawton of Framingham. She also leaves 6 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Judge James R. Lawton, Frederick Lawton and Fr. Thomas Lawton, CSC. Visiting hours in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), Brockton, Friday 4-7 p.m. A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 10:30 a.m.. Dear Lawton Family,
Sheila was such a kind and generous person. We spent many hours assisting her in the kitchen at the Holy Cross Retreat House during Cursillo weekends. We extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the family.
