Joseph DelVecchio Obituary

QUINCY Joseph J. DelVecchio, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died Saturday October 4, 2008 at Quincy Medical Center. He was 84. Born in Quincy on January 21, 1924, Mr. DelVecchio was the son of the late Domenico and Carmella (Belfiore) DelVecchio. He was a graduate of Quincy Trade School and worked as a Quality Control Inspector in the Engineering Department for Bethleham Steel and General Dynamics at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. Mr. DelVecchio then went to the Eastern School of Photography. He served in the US ARMY during WWII and was a former member of St. Johns Senior Citizens Club. Mr. DelVecchio was also a member of the VFW, DAV and American Legion. Mr. DelVecchio is the beloved brother of Dora DelVecchio of Quincy and the late Mary and Michael DelVecchio. He was also the loving nephew of the late Adelina and Matteo DelVecchio. His funeral will be from the Bolea-Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 116 Franklin St., Quincy on Thursday, October 9 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Josephs Church, 550 Washington St., Quincy at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

Mr. DelVecchio,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. ARMY during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
