WESTMINSTER-- Billy Maynard Smith, 79, widower of the late Eva Holbrooks Smith, passed away, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Magnolia Place of Greenville.
Born June 8, 1937 in Cowpens, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Joe Dever Smith, Sr. and Dovie Louise Wyatt Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from the construction industry and a Southern Baptist. He was a fan of Nascar and loved fishing, southern cooking and his beloved pet Boxer, Buster.
Survivors include son, Billy L. Smith (Crystal) of Princeton, TX; daughters, Erica R. Witzke (Steven) of Columbus, GA; Denise Beaird (Charles) of Gaffney, SC; and Lisa Smith (Joey) of Gaffney, SC; nine grandchildren, Christy Arrowood, Billy Arrowood, Cassandra Arrowood, Gerald Lanier, Adam Cobbler, Matt Beaird, Madison Witzke, Lawrence Witzke and David Witzke; four great-grandchildren, Leland Hickerson, Kaylee Millen, Samantha Millen and Corbin Cobbler; brothers, Jack Smith of Florida and Wendell Smith of Chesnee, SC; and sisters, Ann McGarity of Spartanburg, SC and Norma Holcombe of Gaffney, SC.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by brothers, Joe Smith, Jr., James 'Jim' Smith, Gary Smith, Kenneth Smith, and Robert Smith; and sisters, Sue Hamrick and Jane Grant.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, from the Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 - 2 pm, Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
