Those we love remain with us,
for love itself lives on.
Cherished memories never fade,
because one loved is gone.
Those we love can never be,
more than a thought apart,
for as long as there's a memory,
they live on in our hearts.
I will always have memories of
my trips to New York that included
"POOKIE".
Shopping at Macy's (his favorite).
The Oil Shops, Shoe Stores,
Lincoln Center, Dinner Cruises,
and much more.
all of this I will miss!
But, my memories and LOVE
for "POOKIE"
Will live on!

To the Mathis Family. I want to say thank you Pookie for being a great role model for my husband Odell to look up to. He turned out to be a good man and I know you had a lot to do with that along with his mother .thank you. Paulette Ferguson

To the family of Ernest "Pookie" Mathis:
This is a very hard time for all of us but we will get through it as time passes. I pray God's comfort and loving hands will surround you in the coming weeks.
Pookie was a dear loving friend for many, many years and I will truly miss him. The plans we made for retirement are not cancelled only deferred for a while. Rest my sweet, sweet "Pookie".

Uncle Ernie, I can't express everything you had come to mean to me. When my mother needed you to get me settled in my new job in Syracuse, NY, you didn't hesitate to be there for us. That took place in 1987, and since then, we had become the best of friends. You were always there to give me advice and didn't mind letting me know when I was "messing" up. We talked on the phone quite often and after every conversation, I told you that I loved you, and I would always kid you because you never said it back. Uncle Ernie, I knew that you loved me and you will always, always remain forever in my heart. Love, Karen
