Donald Bealmear

1933 - 2014

Donald A. Bealmear, 80, of Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. He was born on Oct. 20, 1933, in Louisville to the late Francis Marion and Mary Ellen Powell Bealmear. He was joined in holy matrimony to Shirley Ann Wright on ßJan. 28, 1956. He graduated from Eastern High School in 1952. A naval veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served on the USS Estes. He then worked for the L&N Railroad and Wayne Supply Company. He graduated from Bellarmine College in 1962. He was employed as a Trust Officer at Irwin Union Bank in Columbus, Indiana from 1963-1978. In 1995, he retired after 17 years from First National Bank of Springfield, Illinois. He has lived in Taylorsville, since 1998, and was employed by the People's Bank in Taylorsville as a courier until 2010. Donald was devoted to and active in the Roman Catholic Church. A member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Taylorsville, he was a eucharistic minister, and a charter member of the All Saints Knights of Columbus, Third Degree. He was a friend to everyone he met and had a great commitment to Jesus Christ. He was a Cub Master for Pack 555 in Columbus and was president of the Bartholomew County Easter Seal Society for a number of years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Stephen.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley; his children, Michael Bealmear and his wife, Kathleen, of Columbus, Indiana, Lynn Dix and her husband, Nicholas, of Beavercreek, Ohio, Reverend Jeffery Bealmear and his wife, Lisa, of Metropolis, Illinois, and Joyce Jones and her husband, Keith, of Crestwood; his nine grandchildren, Theodore Bealmear, Scott, Sean and Mitchell Essex, Jennifer Snyder and her husband, Michael, and Kyle Bealmear, Lauren, Megan and Sydney Jones; and his two brothers Richard Bealmear and his wife, Judith, and James Bealmear and his wife, Nancy, all of Louisville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the All Saints Catholic Church in Taylorsville, with Reverend Dale Cieslik celebrating. Interment will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be from 5 p.m., until 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville.
