Alice SIDLOW Obituary
October 16, 1937 – December 16, 2022
A force of fire and light. A fiery and fearless advocate for her community and those she loved. A light of warmth and a sense of home for those who needed it. This amazing woman transitioned from this world on December 16th, 2022, at her beloved Glenrose home with her daughter Stacey, granddaughters Ali and Sara, and her cherished dog Angel by her side.
Through her many love languages, she gave those she knew and loved time, smiles, full bellies, and forever memories.
Born and raised in Spokane and growing up in Browne's Addition, she graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and attended Whitworth University. She married William Sidlow (2011) in 1956 and had three children; William (Linda), Susannah (Damon), and Stacey (Shawn), and five grandchildren; Ali, David, Sara, Jack, and Kai.
Her love of volunteering, cooking, camping, animals, and the outdoors started as a young girl and continued throughout her life. Through a small act of adopting a pony in the mid-60s, she and her family settled on a farm in Glenrose. The farm was home to dogs, cats, horses, cows, sheep, chickens, rabbits, wild deer, birds, a flower business, kids, grandkids, and their friends.
She deeply loved her farm, spending countless hours in the garden, flower beds, and kitchen. She shared everything she grew, canned, made, and baked with family, neighbors, and friends. Whether it be planting, baked goods (especially her signature cinnamon rolls and holiday cookies), candy wreaths, or small presents, you never left her house hungry or empty-handed.
In addition to managing the farm, gardens and caring for her family, she volunteered her time and talents to her children's interests spanning from Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Glenrose 4-H Club, Pony Club, and many others. She was an active member of the South Hill Lions, Glenrose Association, and Glenrose Women's Club and had a long secretarial career at Adams Elementary School.
An overwhelming amount of gratitude to Sacred Heart Hospital, Hospice of Spokane, Visiting Angels of Spokane, Maid Naturally, and Seth Carter of Handy Heroes Home Services, who, through their care and loving service, allowed her to be able to stay in her home with safety, dignity, and comfort.
The love and light she shared will forever be felt by those she knew and loved. Her family, friends, and the Glenrose Community will never be the same. With all our love Mom, we miss you.
A celebration of her journey will be held at the Southside Community Center in Spokane on Saturday, July 29th from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and is open to all who knew and loved her.
