Amy BRANCH Obituary

November 26, 1974 - February 10, 2023

Educator Extraordinaire, Amy Joy Sylvia Branch, left this life suddenly on February 10, 2023, at age 48.

She was born to Bob and Geri Branch on November 26, 1974, in Spokane, Washington. There she excelled in school, friendships, and basketball. There her father, Bob, acting as her coach, began perfecting her shooting skills at age 5. Living in Corbin Park, she had access to many challengers to her game.

In 1989, Amy and Mom moved to Seattle for Geri's work. Luckily, Edmonds School District hired Mom and provided one of the outstanding high school basketball programs in the state for Amy. She played varsity all 4 years and even succeeded in her schoolwork.

A college scholarship followed to the University of Nevada at Reno where she started all four years and provided travel excuses to family to see games and enjoy other Reno activities.

Amy completed her degrees and certifications back in Seattle where she accepted positions in Edmonds School District over the next few years as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal. She combined her love of teaching with travel in three years of international assignments in Beirut, Lebanon, and Dakar, Senegal.

Amy was known everywhere for her bright smile, kindness, high ethics, educational professionalism, and "wicked" sense of humor. This world has lost a remarkable human being.

Amy is survived by her mother, Geri, and her brother, Eric. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob. Her cat, Habibti, at 23 years old, followed her in death several weeks later.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 29 at 3:00 PM at University Unitarian Church in Seattle - 6556 35th Avenue NE, Seattle, WA, 98115.

Donations are gladly accepted to provide resources for impoverished Lebanese mothers and babies. Checks can be made out to Amy's Estate and sent to this address: Amy's Estate, Hastler. PO Box 1132, Lynnwood, WA 98046. Geri Branch will send donations to Lebanon.
